Technique Challenge 64 (8/10/10) Clear Block Stamping

Technique Challenge 64 (8/10/10) Clear Block Stamping

Today's challenge is both simple and ingenious!

Rather than spend time sponging inside a square or rectangle for a focal point for your card, why not just stamp a rectangle with one of Stampin' Up!'s clear blocks?

I discovered this technique while perusing my downline Kris/Paper Fairy's convention swaps. She had This Gorgeous Card (pardon my blurry picture) from Veronica Inouye. So I copied the contact information and emailed. Veronica's daughter, Lorene Inouye-Salvo help me to find the creative demonstrator who first thought of the technique, Sharon Field. Happily, Sharon agreed to be featured as a technique challenge on SA. Thanks so much for sharing Sharon!

For a complete tutorial and links to a variety of creative ideas using this technique, see Sharon's post about this technique on her blog: Created by You.

What a fun and simple technique to add to your next class or even workshop!

    Here's my simple "how to":

    1. Ink your Clear Block onto the color of your choice. Veronica mentioned that you can drag it across the inkpad horizontally and vertically to create a near linen look for an alternative after original inking too!

    2. Place a foam pad (either what comes with the mat pack or a child's foam sheet) under your cardstock.

    3. Stamp your Clear Block onto your cardstock.

    4. Stamp something else (image, sentiment or both) to finish your vignette.

Here's my example: Get Well Block

    ---------------------------------------------------
You can work on this challenge whenever you want. There is no time limit. Please post your work in the Technique challenge gallery with the phrase Tech64 in the keywords and post your link here, so we can all see it.

I hope you will find time to play and Have fun!

Since many of us are SU! enthusiasts, I’m going to give you very early warnings about upcoming challenges, so that you can order if needed. You will need glossy cardstock, the dot border punch, pastels and a candle soon, but not all in the same week.

Very cool - off to check out her blog - we did this technique at my club tonight! We did masking tonight, so I had a masking card, a reverse masking card and I called this the faux reverse masking card. Thanks Rhonda for always having such great techniques.

I just uploaded the card to my gallery here.

This is my first SA challenge so I think I did it right. I added it to the technique challenge gallery.

Looks like I should add a link to the challenge on the card description too. I will edit that. Anything else I should do?
