    DTP with new pads??

I don't have the new pads yet, but I can't wait to try them. They seem nearly perfect. I say nearly because, I've heard from a couple of people already that DTP (direct to paper), just doesn't work with these. Specifically I mean either using the pad to ink up the edges of card stock, or my favorite thing which is to just pounce and rub the ink pad directly onto a piece of CS for a background.

I've either got to come up with a new way to do this, or as they get replaced, keep all my old pads just for this technique. lol I've already found out that a bit of reinker on wax paper does NOT work. Felt I wonder?? Sponging just doesn't quite give the saturation of DTP, unless perhaps I sponge from now til St. Swithuns day, or until my arm falls off. lol

I played with this earlier for a card I want to do for a swap.
It looks like these. The one on the left is the dtp edge technique with the pad.
The one on the right is the dtp drag technique.

sigh, well, it still works great with a sponge on the edge!

The foan pad reminds me of the dense make up sponges.

Thanks for posting this Kim. Hmmm.....it really seems like the saturation is so much more intense with these pads. And not just because they're new and juicy, but it seems from posts I've seen that the ink transfers from the pad to other things a lot better. So now I'm wondering, if sponging with these new pads will be more like the dtp I'm talking about. I'm just going to have to get one when someone orders after the 1st and play with it I know. Meh....was trying to find a pic or two of ones I've done with this technique. Probably still on the camera, I'm bad about that.

When I tried to ink the edges of my cardstock, I made a couple of nicks in the inkpad, so I stopped right away. The nicks are little and don't effect the inking of my stamps, but I did not want to push my luck with a brand-spanking-new inkpad!

Have you tried stamping with a clear block for the DTP effect. There are blocks bigger than the card you could try. It seems it might be similar.

Possibly. I've done clear block stamping, but usually color ink on white or vanilla. I will try it tone on tone tomorrow and see how it does.

lol sorry. Here are the issues.

    1. If I ever say I'll do something tomorrow/later. I'll probably forget and never do it.

    2. I did forget til you bumped this and it showed up in subbed threads

    3. I have no idea, cuz I'm an idiot, I just realized what I was saying.......I don't HAVE any of the new pads!! lol I can do DTP just fine right now cuz all I have is the old pads. lol
