Technique Challenge 16 6/23/09 Glitter Stained Glass Technique

Technique Challenge 16 (Tech16)

Glitter Stained Glass

Good Morning! Glad you stopped by the technique challenge!

Today's challenge is the Glittered Stained Glass. There are earlier examples of this online, but the best tutorial I've found (should my instructions not be enough) is by Julie Buhler.

We did this card last Saturday at my Hostess Appreciation event, and my girls loved it.

1. Stamp your image in StazOn ink onto an Acetate/Transparency/window sheet.
2. Allow to dry or gently heat with your heat tool to dry the ink.
3. Flip the acetate sheet over to the back side (no ink on it)
4. Paint a thin coat of Crystal Effects over the green (or first color) portions of your image using a paintbrush. Go just over the line a bit....the edges dry first, so you want the glitter to go all the way to the edge of your image lines.
5. Add your fine green glitter to the crystal effects and shake off very well by thumping/flicking the acentate .
6. Next, repeat with your second color (in my case the purple/lavendar color of glitter).
7. I heated the glitter and crystal effects just a bit with my heat tool.
8. Your glittered side goes against the cardstock base which you have cut to the exact size of your acetate image layer using brads to secure.

Echoes of Kindness Example #1

Alternate finish:
1. Next paint crystal effects onto the entire back of your acetate sheet (avoiding only the previously glittered areas).
2. Sprinkle and completely cover the back with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
3. Shake off the excess and this time your base MUST be white so that any streaking or variation in thickness of glitter is completely obscured.

Echoes of Kindness Example #2

You can work on this challenge whenever you want. There is no time limit. Please post your work in the Technique challenge gallery with the words
Tech16 in the keywords and post your link here, so we can all see it.

I hope you will find time to play and Have fun!

Since many of us are SU! enthusiasts, I’m going to give you very early warnings about upcoming challenges, so that you can order if needed.
Next week, you will need your Big Shot and Texture Plates.
